Do you offer free in-home design consultations?
Yes. In-home consultations are available if you'd prefer to meet with a designer in your own space. This gives your designer an opportunity to see the kitchen firsthand, discuss your goals, look at the surrounding colors and finishes, and better understand how you use the space. In-home measuring can also be coordinated when appropriate for your project.
Is the in-person kitchen design consultation really free?
Yes. There is no charge for your initial design consultation. You'll meet with an experienced kitchen designer who can help you explore layouts, cabinetry, countertops, colors, finishes, storage solutions, and other possibilities for your project.
What can you expect at your free in-person consultation?
During your visit, you will talk through your goals, style preferences, and budget. Your designer can review measurements, show cabinet and countertop options, and help you plan a layout that fits your space. It is a simple way to get expert guidance before you order.
How is an in-person consultation different from your free online RTA cabinet design?
Both provide professional design assistance. Our online Free Design service is primarily intended for customers purchasing RTA cabinets and is handled through phone and email.An in-person consultation provides a more hands-on experience and access to a much broader range of cabinet sizes, modifications, accessories, finishes, and design possibilities. You'll work face-to-face with an experienced kitchen designer to develop a more customized solution for your space.
What types of cabinets can I design during an in-person consultation?
Our in-person design service is ideal for homeowners who want more choices than a standard RTA cabinet line can provide. Depending on the cabinet line, your designer can work with additional sizes, configurations, modifications, storage accessories, decorative pieces, finishes, and other options to create a kitchen tailored more closely to your space.
Can you help me choose countertops during my consultation?
Yes. We can help you compare countertop materials, colors, patterns, and styles and coordinate them with your cabinetry. Looking at cabinets and countertops together can make it much easier to create a cohesive design.
Can you help coordinate colors, patterns, and textures?
Absolutely. Your designer can help coordinate cabinet finishes, countertops, flooring, paint, hardware, backsplash ideas, and other materials. We'll consider how colors, patterns, textures, and finishes interact rather than choosing each part of the kitchen independently.
Can your designer help with flooring, lighting, paint, and other parts of my remodel?
Yes. Although we may not provide every product or trade involved in your project, an experienced kitchen designer can offer guidance on how flooring, lighting, paint, appliances, backsplash, hardware, and other elements relate to your overall design.
Does the consultation include kitchen measurements?
We can help determine what measurements are needed to properly design your kitchen. Approximate measurements are often enough to begin the design process, with more precise measurements or an in-home visit coordinated when appropriate before the project is finalized.
Do I need measurements before my first consultation?
No. Measurements are helpful, but you don't need perfect dimensions to have your first conversation with us. If you have approximate measurements, bring them along. Photos of the space can also be extremely useful.
What should you bring to your design consultation?
Bring any measurements, photos of your space, inspiration images, and your budget if you have one. If you are not sure where to start, that is okay—your designer can help you narrow down styles, materials, and layout options during your visit.
Do I need to know exactly what style I want?
Not at all. Helping you narrow down your options is part of the design process. You can come in with a very specific vision or simply tell us what you like and don't like. Your designer can help identify styles, colors, and materials that fit your preferences.
Can you help me decide on a kitchen layout?
Yes. Layout planning is an important part of the consultation. Your designer can look at cabinet placement, storage, appliances, work areas, islands, walkways, and other considerations to help develop a kitchen that works well for your space.
Can you help me get more storage out of my kitchen?
Yes. Your designer can explore cabinet configurations and organizational features that make better use of the available space. This might include drawer bases, pantry cabinets, corner solutions, pull-outs, deeper drawers, specialty storage, and other options depending on the cabinet line you choose.
Can you design around my existing appliances?
Yes. If you're keeping your current appliances, bring the model numbers or dimensions whenever possible. If you're purchasing new appliances, having specifications available before the final cabinet order is especially important.
Can I see cabinet and countertop samples during my consultation?
Yes. One of the biggest benefits of meeting in person is being able to compare actual cabinet finishes, door styles, countertop samples, and other materials together rather than trying to make every decision from photographs on a screen.
Can you work within a specific budget?
Yes. Let your designer know your target budget early in the process. We can help you understand where different cabinet choices, modifications, accessories, and countertop selections affect the overall project cost and look for options that make sense for your priorities.
How long does an in-person design consultation take?
The amount of time varies depending on the project and how far along you are in the decision-making process. Your first appointment should provide enough time to discuss your goals, review your space, explore options, and determine the next steps without making you feel rushed.
Am I expected to purchase cabinets at my first consultation?
No. The purpose of the first consultation is to understand your project, explore your options, and determine the best direction for your kitchen. A kitchen is a significant purchase, and we want you to have the information you need to make a confident decision.
